THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSONS ARE NOT LEARN IN SCHOOL

This is a topic that really brought my attention. Real life is very difficult. In most of the cases, it takes a lot of pain and suffers to learn the lesson. For instance, I remember when I started to work, as a dishwasher in a restaurant when I just got here to this country. Back then I was trying to make some money to pay my expenses. Of course, I didn’t speak any English at all.

It’s funny but I’ve never heard in any of my classes how hard was the real world. I never heard any professor at my High School to talk about the life of the thousands of immigrants that crossed the border with the hope for a better life. Suddenly, I was one of them. I could not believe that none of my classes explain how to survive in the United States as an immigrant. I knew how to calculate the slope, or how to solve an equation of second degree. I also knew the countries and capitals of the entire world. I even knew the day when the Red Army of Russia defeat Hitler and the day the amazing Soviet Union Failed. But no body ever told me how to deal with discrimination, either I wasn’t told that I had to work six days a week, 12 hours a day for two hundred twenty dollars a week, or even worse the high price that we have to pay in order to get a green card (if we get it). It’s very sad and depresses to know that they don’t teach you that at school. Until now I still don’t understand why schools all over the world do not tell you the way life is on the streets. Certainly, THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSONS ARE NOT LEARN IN THE CLASSROOMS.
