McDonald’s has about half a century history that started in 1954. Its founder, Ray Kroc, started with his five-spindled milk shake maker and cooperated with Dick and Mac McDonald’s to open the first McDonald’s franchise in Illinois. In 1963, the happy clown, Ronald McDonald, appear. He is popular as Santa Claus who always makes children happy, and he just becomes a sign of McDonald’s now. In 1965, McDonald’s corporation first entered the stock market. After this, different new products, such as “Big Mac” and the “Egg McMuffin”, and the new idea like the happy meal were introduced. Later on, McDonald’s had its own world wide website in 1997. Its business gets expend by selling its franchise stores all around the world.
I think McDonald’s is a very successful business it can fulfill and satisfy our metropolitan’s need. People have busy schedule of working, taking care of family, taking care of children, and communicating with others everyday. McDonald’s fast-food is a very convenient choice for the public. We can find McDonald’s locations all around our schools, colleges, business centers, neighborhoods, or even gas stations. Not like the other restaurants, people don’t have to make the reservation but just walk-in to enjoy the meal. Usually it won’t take 30 minutes longer from ordering to finishing the meal. So, people can have more time to do other things. All consumptions in McDonald’s are at very acceptable prices. Averagely, it won’t charge consumer over $10 for a whole meal per person in McDonald’s. Various choices and favors are available in the menu for us to buy. McDonald’s always improve itself by providing new products according to customers’ favors and demand. These years, McDonald’s brings a lot of pleasure to our children society through their four popular stars, Ronald, Birdie, Hamberglar, Grimace, and the limitless surprises within its every happy meal box. From the business point of view, McDonald’s existence is a good impetus because it results the positive competition with other chains in the restaurant industry. This positive competition benefits our public consumers by getting more choices and higher quality products and services in the market.
However, there are some aspects that I think McDonald’s need to improve. For instance, in order to serve quickly, McDonald’s preparation process of its products might not be that sufficient sometimes. The crew members of McDonald’s are efficient, but usually aren’t as patient as we expect. Because all products in McDonald’s are fast-foods, certainly, they are not as nutrient and tasty as the meal that we make at home or we consume in other high-class restaurants.
These years, there are lots of lawsuits that against fast-food restaurants, such as McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, and Wendy’s. All plaintiffs allege that these fast-food restaurants are responsible for their obesity problems. However, in my opinion, it’s a shame for the people who are trying to blame on the fast-food industry. Everybody should take his/her own responsibility. Nothing is dangerous to make us fat if we eat them properly with balance. If we are knowledgeable, we should understand there are many factors that cause us fat besides excessive eating. It could be lack of exercises, genetic factors of family history, or any other medical condition issues. So, these lawsuits are unfair to all the fast-food restaurants, which just provide the choices and options in the supply market. I think that’s why government pass the bill to ban all these kind of lawsuits by obese people.
McDonald’s just like an old friend to everybody. I knew him when I was 7 years old. Now, he is old as my father. I had lots of happy memories in there, such as my birthday party or taking pictures with Ronald McDonald when I was a little girl. I think McDonald’s is not just a fast-food restaurant to us, but just become an essential part of our lives today. Maybe that’s the reason why it can be so successful and can continue to grow with us in the future.
