In the mid 90’s, before the Pokémon invasion, six kids were faced with the task of saving the world once a week, all while dealing with pressures of High School. Jason, Tommy, Billy, Zack, Kimberly, and Trini. Otherwise know as the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”.

When the Power Rangers first busted on to the seen they were a huge hit. Every Saturday morning these six twenty something teenagers in colorful tights would defeat a monster, sent by their nemesis Rita. Guided by Zordon, a holographic head in a giant test tube, and his corky robot assistant Alpha 5, these six kids were able to transform into modern day superheroes by reciting one simple phrase, “It’s Morphin Time!”

Oh, do I have to give credit to the creators of Power Rangers. The idea was ingenious. With each Ranger having a personality of their own, they were able to identify with the kids of the world. I myself have to admit that I was a victim of the Power Ranger ides. The Pink Ranger was my favorite, and with the Power Rangers being everywhere I turned, I eagerly stocked up on supplies. Power Rangers were a supernatural mixture of Ninja Turtles, and Transformers. In their giant robotic dinosaurs, they would defeat monster upon monster. And even though you knew they would always win, it always kept you wanting more. It was like a really kick ass children’s soap opera. Because in between the battles the team faced every week, they still had to deal with the everyday issues of teenagers. For it’s time the graphics weren’t have bad, and in the world of Saturday morning cartoons The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers completely dominated the airwaves.

Though it was once a highly rated TV show, which was barely believable to begin with. It just kept getting more moronic over the years. The constant change in characters every six months made it incredible hard to follow the storyline. At first they were just regular Power Rangers, the next month they lost in time, and the next lost in space. In fact I find it hard to believe that the show is still in production. In this day in age children are so wrapped up with Pokémon, and Sponge Bob, I don’t even think that they would be able to keep up with the many split personalities of the Power Rangers. And would somebody please tell me what happened to Zordon. Did somebody finally decide to unplug his head, or did the man behind the curtain just give up and decide to go home. This show was completely complicated. Somewhere along the way the creators forgot the strategy for making a successful kids show. Come on people they’re kids, lets keep it short and simple.

Overall I’d have to say, for the Power Rangers short-lived time in the limelight, it really put a dent in the nations pockets. Even though the show is still running, and has replaced it’s cast numerous of times, there hasn’t been any Power Rangers as good as the first six. For they were the ones that stole the nations heart. To bad none of them were able to launch successful careers off of the show, but Kimberly the Pink ranger, will always be a star in my book. Despite it all I still would have to give this show an E, for effort, D, for diversity, and an S, for stupidity, because when I look back on it now, it was just a stupid show to begin with.
