Two years ago, I went to see "Enough" directed by Michael Apted. I read some of the reviews on the website and thought maybe I should go and see it. To my surprise the movie was very suspenseful and realistic. A lot of the comments had said, “it was a joke to physical and spouse abuse" but to someone who was witnessed it and been through it, it was a very real and inspiring movie. Jennifer Lopez gives an outstanding performance in this film. She really can act and sing! She works hard at the roles and it definitely shows in this movie. I recommend seeing it to anyone who is looking for a wake up call because this does happen, and the movie shows it well.
For the thriller, the movie begins more like a romantic comedy, with Slim (Jennifer Lopez) and Mitch (Billy Campbell) meeting cute at the dinner where she's a waitress, and title cards like " How they met", and "Conquering hero" connecting their early stages. In no time, they fall in love, get married and move into a beautiful house. After the arrival on their first child, her picture perfect life is shattered when she discover Mitch's hidden possessive dark side, a controlling and abusive alter ego that can turn trust, love and tranquility into terror. Terrified for her child's safety, Slim flees with her daughter Gracia. She tries to get the police involved but soon realizes that he could bail himself out. Then, she runs away with her 5 year old daughter and starts a new life with a new identity. As soon as they get settled with their new identity, Mitch finds them and threatens Slim again. She puts Gracie in safe keeping, toughens herself mentally and physically and sets out to prove to Mitch she's had enough. She decides to stop running away and start fighting back. She cuts hair and takes martial art lessons as she plans her counterattack. After spending hours sweating and preparing for the fight, Slim takes another step and breaks into her husband’s house. Then, she slap him around until he decides to hit back and then beats him to death.
This is a wonderful movie. Honestly, it wasn't one of those stupid movies; in fact, it was really well made and keeps you at the edge of your seat. It doesn't represent the majority of women in the same situation; it still reminds us that it happens all the time. Also, how horrible it must be to have to live through domestic violence. Especially, since most abused women never get out of it and suffer the rest of their lives. It teaches women a great lesson- that women don't have to be dependent for men and that women should never put up with any kind of abuse, either physical or mental. Also, it really shows that women can do just as much as men and it's very realistic. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone.
ENOUGH has everything that you are looking for. You know how sometimes you watch a movie and some scenes get boring? Well, this movie stays interesting throughout the whole time. That's why I loved it. In my opinion, it's the movie of the year with a lot of surprises. I remember, when I went to see it with my mom, how people actually clapped for the movie while it was playing. Absolutely its a movie which is worth the money!
This movie is great! J. Lo. was excellent but there was one thing that her character shouldn't have done. She attempts a ridiculously intricate night-time escape, instead of simply waiting until her husband Mitch is at work or with his mistress. Of course, she didn't escape, and he beat her again until she faints. However, all I'm saying is that other then this little thing that happened, everyone should to see it!!!
Finally, I would rate this movie a 9/10 because it has a lot of different parts. It's funny, suspenseful and sad. Enough is great and I think all women should see that movie, especially abused women because we can kick men's a.... anytime, too. According to one of the viewers, the moral of the movie is, "Don't run away from your problems because they will only get worse and worse".
