According to “Cinderella’s Stepsisters,” by Toni Morrison, Morrison urges women not to participate in professional, competitive, or emotional violence against women, although they will soon have certain power to dominate others' lives. She states that women should pay as much attention to nurturing and caring of family members as their ambition. They should not only base on all their decisions on security and safety because there is nothing really safe in life. There will always be somebody there to stop you. In addition, Morrison suggests that women’s rights are about personal behavior between two people and the power that motivates personal behavior can be transferred between the two people.

Morrison tries to point out that power cannot stay with you forever. It will be eliminated someday. When your power is gone, it is your turn to be dominated. Also, there will always be someone to watch and imitate your actions. They might do the same to you as have done to other women who under your power. Therefore, if you do not want other women to control your life, you need to watch your behavior while you try to achieve your ambition.

In the reality, there are always some kind of this oppression exists between two or more people. The story of Cinderella still exists in our real life, but the ending is different. The “Cinderella” might have no prince. When I was in china, I saw a “Cinderella” lived in my neighborhood. When she was three months old, her mother hung herself in the living room after an argument with her father. After that her father married with another women, her horrible life was started. Her father needed to work outside and could not go home all the time because he needed to earn money to support his family. Her stepmother was a terrible woman. She only cared about money. She did not really take good care of her. She left her at home and went gambling all the time. When the little girl’s father came home, her stepmother showed that she took good care of her which was not true. When she was five years old, she had a stepsister. Therefore, her life became much worse. She had to learn how to take care of herself. She needed to take shower and wash her clothes by herself. She was even forced to learn to cook for her stepmother and stepsister while her father was not at home. This little girl was very smart and her father helped her to achieve a high education. After she found a good job and became rich, she asked her father to live with her. When her father asked her to help her stepmother to pay off the gambling debt, she refused her father’s request. She told her father that her stepmother deserved it.

In conclusion, “no to participate in the oppression of your sister” is meaningful. Although you are in power now, you cannot be sure that you can keep it for your whole life. When you are using your power to do something, you need to know that you are responsible for it which includes good and bad results. Therefore, you need to respect other people when you are in power or not if you want others to respect you in the future.

Admin B Some very strong points and clear explanations. There are a few proofreading problems, and your conclusion could be more comprehensive.
