Blackboard Tutorial Videos

These Demonstration videos will show you actual screen captures to help you learn what you need to know to navigate English 337. The videos are designed to be viewed in order, but it's perfectly fine to skip to the one you need the most, and it's also fine to go back and view them again, as many times as you need to. The videos may take a while to start, especially if you have a slow connection, so please be patient.

1. Registering on the CUNY Portal (about 2:30 minutes)--in order to use Blackboard, you need to have an account on the CUNY Portal, with a username and password. If you already have that account, you can feel free to skip this video.

2. Logging in to Blackboard (about 3 minutes)--once you have a portal account, you need to know how to log in to Blackboard. If you've used Blackboard before, and you're sure your username and password work fine, you can feel free to skip this video.

3. Navigating Blackboard (about 8 minutes)--this video is longer, and contains more specific information about this course. Even if you've taken other Distance Learning courses before, it's a good idea to watch this one.

Each video is posted in two formats, either Windows Media or Flash. You can view either one. To view the Windows Media Video, you'll need to have Windows Media Player installed on your system. For the Flash file, you'll need the Macromedia Flash player. Both of these are free downloads, and you probably already have at least one of them on your machine.
The quality is slightly better on the Flash videos, but the file size is much bigger. Also, if you're using an operating system other than Windows (for example, Linux, or the Mac OS), you won't be able to use the Windows Media file.
