This is where you find all the late-breaking news such as test dates, new assignments, and other need-to-know information. This area appears in the main course window each time you enter the course. Make sure you check the announcements EVERYDAY!!

    Course Information

This is where you are now. Here you will find the web site tour, the FAQ, the class syllabus which outlines the course goals, attendance policies, grading policies, participation requirements, etc. There is also a Fall 2001 calendar and a course schedule for our class.

    Staff Information

Here you will find some information about me, where/how you can find me in cyberspace and in real time/space.

    Course Documents

This is where the main "material" of the course resides. The modules (what we have instead of lectures) live in this section. Very important area.

    Assignments

This is where you will find the readings, papers and quizzes. Any other homework assignments will be posted here (an announcement will also be made to alert you). Be sure to check this area regularly.

    Communication

This area holds all of the communication tools. Discussion, chat, and email are located here, along with student and group pages. You can engage in discussion with other members of the class and with me in a variety of ways (email, a discussion board, real-time chat).

  • E-mail

  • You may e-mail me or your classmates. I will respond within 24 hours. I can't make any promises for anyone else.

  • Discussion Board

  • This is where most of the course asynchronous interaction will take place. You should be sure to read EVERY SINGLE new post each time you log on. All the discussions can be reached by links from the modules, or you can go straight to them.

  • Virtual Chat

  • It can be used to hold the "live" classroom discussions. If any of you want to schedule a time to get together and talk, feel free. If I do try and set up a chat for us, it will be posted in the announcements.

    External Links

There are some general interest links here, some reference, some SF reference, and some that are specific to modules. The ones that are connected to modules can also be reached by links from within the modules.

    Student Tools

This area holds the tools needed to submit information to the instructor (Student Drop Box), view a course calendar, check your grades, manage your homepage, and edit your profile. There is also the Student Manual that will give you additional information how to work with your web site.
