Hello Professor Clark,

My name is Abeni Blanchard. I am nineteen years old, and this is my second semester at BMCC, or any college for that matter. I am currently a Liberal Arts Major, but when I transfer to a four year college I would like to major in Communications. I'm not really sure of what I want to do in life, but then again I'm only nineteen. I still have time to find out. Though I do know one thing, I like to write. However, I only like to write things in which I can express myself freely. Now I know, due to each persons individual writing style, there is nothing but free expression. Nevertheless, I can not stand to write structured essays about blah, blah, blah. I love fiction, and love to use my imagination and explore every part of my mind. Besides the following essays I also write poerty, and had a hobby of writing short stories when I was younger. I have to admit that besides the work that I've done in class I haven't written anything else in a long time.

I have really enjoyed this semester. English has always been my favorite class. I don't really know what I learned this semester, but I really loved coming to class. I loved all of our in class discussions because Professor Ugoretz always let us express ourselves freely. Sometimes even after the two hours was over, I still did not want to leave class.

Well as I already stated twice in this brief discription of myself, I am all about free expression. So feel free to read my freely expressed essays, and freely express your opinion.Thank You.

Abeni Blanchard

In Class Essay-Abeni- This is the essay that I chose to be graded. It is a response to question number two of the in class essay "What is Hip Hop?" Surprisingly this has been my best piece of work in this class. It was hard for me to write this essay, because I really had to dig up insperation. However, once I got the ball rolling I had a lot of fun writing this essay. I don't really listen to Rap, but when I thought about it, growing up with Hip Hop in the 90's was one of the most exciting times in my life.

This is some of the other work I've done for this class. Please feel free to look them over, do not concider them for a grade.

Personal Narrative-Abeni- I had the most fun writing this essay. I felt like a kid again. When I was writing this paper I really was lost in my imagination. I probably could have gone on writing for ever, but my paper was due, so I kind of rushed it.

Position Paper-Abeni- This paper, and the following paper are what I like to call Blah papers. I really didn't have an intrest in them, and had a really hard time finding a topic for them. In this paper I took (what my teacher would say), a complicated stand on a complicated issue. I argued for both sides on the difficulties of abortion.

Critical Paper-Abeni- Blah paper numero dos. I wouldn't even suggest reading this paper. I really had NOTHING to write about. So as I watched my Saturday morning cartoons (yes, I still watch Saturday morning cartoons) I decided to wirte about The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. "It's morphin time!"

These are some comments from my fellow classmates.

Kun Lin: Hi, Abeni. This is a very juicy and detailed introdution about you. You know what, you were the one who impressed me at our first class because you had a very good memory to call out the whole class in just a few minutes. Also, you're very humorous person. By looking at the first sentense of your story, it has already maken me hungry. Maybe I'm not a creative person, so I don't really like to write. However, I like to do some reading in my free time. Hope I will have a chance to be shared with your masterpieces in the future!

Antisha:What's up Abeni I really liked your short story and how you explained you personality was hidden behind your hair. I don't really know you but we have something in common, because alot people think that I'm stuck up or act like a bitch when they first meet me. The truth is I'm just real and I don't change my person- ality for no one.I rather to choke than to pretend to be someone that I'm not.So I just think that it was good that you came out of your shell because if you would have waitng too long you probably would have lost who you really was.Good luck in college.

Adrienne Hayes: Hi Abeni, thank you for the Happy Birthday message.

Why did you stop writing? It seems like you really enjoyed it. And by the way, your story is very funny.

Andrew Lugavere: Yeah I also noticed you had a good memory, and your story about your hair was interesting. This introductory essay is really good also, after reading it I can tell what you are like as a person.

Celina Padilla: If you are so good at lying with a straight face, why not become a lawyer, lol. I love how your personality shows in your writing! You should keep at it, who knows how far you'll go if you keep at it. Hey! maybe you can do both! Public realtions and write a book of short stories. Like you, i too got fired from my job, and even though i get sad (mostly angry) i am glad i'm gone from that pathetic excuse of a job! (it was K-Mart in the bronx) Because i probably be still stuck there now instead of here. What kind of situations did you talk your way out of?
