Professer Clark,

Hello my name is Antisha Hemmings and I am a 16 year old attending my first semester of college at BMCC. My biggest goal that I am trying to accomplish is to become a registered nurse, and my biggest wish is that I accomplish this goal in 4 years at the age of twenty. The three people in my life that always incouraged me to believe in myself is my sister, father, and last but not least my mother who sadly passed away two years ago.

Having these type of people in my life has motivated me to suceed in life. This is why I was skipped from the 10th to the 12th grade, also while dealing with the death of my loving mother. Even though it's hard, it's help me realize that life is a precious thing and you should live every day like it's your last. It has also helped me to concentrate more on my school work no matter whats going on around me so that I can make me and my mothers dream come true, which is for me to graduate from college.

Position Paper (Abortion)

My position paper on abortions is the paper that I have selected for my portfolio. The reason why I choose this paper is because I feel that this is a very important topic, and when I did this paper I learned to understand both sides. I think me understanding both sides( meaning different reasons why a law will determine if teenage girls should be able to get a abortion with or without parental consent) was a very big choice because I choose to not only understand girls that have a good relationship with their parents being able to share that there pregnant with their family, but I also understood other girls that was brought up in a home that didn't have a good relationship with their family and were not able to tell their parents under no circumstances that they were pregnant.

I have never been in this situation before and I can't even picture how hard for me it would be to break this type of news to my family.I have a very close relationship with my sister and my father but I know that they would be very disappointed in me. The point is that I want you to read my paper and understand why I feel the way I do and under why I feel there's really no correct answer.

These are some of my other papers that I have also done in class.

Adrienne Hayes: Hi Antisha, I wish there were many young people like you. Just know that your education is very important and all those other things, like partying and hanging out all the time can wait. You have such a good start in life, you probably don't even know it. You see how you want to be a Registered Nurse by the time you're 20. When I was 20, I wasn't even in college. That's because I had a daughter who was three years old and did not have the time to be a mother, work full time and go to school. Now she is nine years old, so I am able to do all three. Anyway, keep up the good work and I hope your dreams come true.

Andrew Lugavere: You must have done really good to skip from the 10th to the 12th grade, it must be wierd for you to be chilling around 18-40 year olds in class, when all your friends are still in high school. Are you planning on transfering to a college? or going to become a straight nurse after BMCC?

Celina Padilla: You have great strive and determination. I think your tragic moment in your life made you much more wise beyond your years. I am sorry to hear about your loss but I know your mom is so proud of you and bursting with happiness to see how much you have accomplish, to where most people your age are just starting to think about making something better of themselves. Obviously you know the value of a good education otherwise you wouldn't be here. I am glad you are living life to the fullest. Did you always wanted to be a nurse? Was it your mom who inspired you to become a nurse or was this even way before that?
